June 23 - 26, 2007 - Attended Summit "Achieving Reunification Center" in Philadelphia, PA. The American Humane Association, American Bar Association, and National Fatherhood Initiative conducted a summit of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Quality Improvement Center on Non-Resident Fathers (QIC-NRF) and the Child Welfare System. Ellen Durnan from DHS (DFD1 Grant Administrator) was invited to this summit based on her work and experience in child welfare systems and fatherhood initiatives. The program discussed the strengths, challenges, and barriers that social services, other community-based, and legal and/or judicial systems may face or pose to the engagement of non-resident fathers in cases where their children have become the subject of child welfare agency interventions.

June 19, 2007 - Attended Michigan Fatherhood Coalition board meeting. Ellen Durnan from DHS (DFD1 Grant Administrator) is as state board member.

May 30, 2007 - Attended the Detroit Chapter Community Based Organziations Advisory Board meeting. Ellen Durnan from DHS (DFD1 Grant Administrator) was invited to be on the board. Meeting held from 10am - 2pm at the DABO Center 12048 Grand River - Detroit, MI. The meeting involved a brief review of previous CBO Advisory activities, and an overview of the CBO Advisory role in the development and implementation of the Detroit Chapter of BLAC.

May 22, 2007 - Attended Michigan Fatherhood Coalition board meeting. Ellen Durnan from DHS (DFD1 Grant Administrator) is as state board member.

May 16, 2007 - Participated in the Job Opportunities for Low Income Individuals conference call being held Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. û 3:00 p.m. EST

May 1, 2007 - The DFD1 Program attended the Parent Education Day at the Capitol event in Lansing, MI at the Radisson Hotel - Capitol East Steps. The event was a way for parents to become actively involved in ensuring that they and fatherhood initiative programs continue to receive needed services.

April 28, 2007 - The DFD1 Program attended the annual Ford Motor Company and Detroit Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Floyd Washington, Jr. Career Day & Youth Summit in Detroit, MI.

April 24, 2007 - Participated in Region V Administration for Children and Families Collaboration Network Call that covered the topic of "Bridging Fatherhood, Healthy Marriage and Domestic Violence" 1:30-3:00 PM CST

April 21, 2007 - The DFD1 Program partnered with the Detroit: City of Hope for the Transition Grief Into Hope event at the Williams Recreation Center in Detroit, MI.

April 21, 2007 - The DFD1 Program attended the Parent Resource Day that was sponsored by the Ark Nonviolence Program at Brenda Scott Middle School in Detroit, MI. The event provided helpful information to the parents of the Osborne/Brenda Scott community along with giveaways and a light brunch.

April 1, 2007 – The DFD1 Grant Administrator, Ellen Durnan from the Department of Human Services participated in a radio interview discussion panel on the topic “Support Groups for Dads” that was broadcasted on FM98 WJLB “That’s What’s Up” Radio Show in Detroit MI.
